There's not much pre-release information for this one out there...
Panel de Pon is a Nintendo 64 puzzle game released exclusively for the Gamecube, only in Japan, in 2003. Kinda sorta. IDK!
After Panel de Pon's {The SNES one [Counting the Yoshi Version (Which also released in Japan BTW)]} worldwide critical success, Nintendo, the creators of Mario, saw it fit to put a sequel into production for their 64th console, which was in its fourth (not sixty fourth) year on the market.
Now, one might think that, learning from their past, the great people at the company where they made Pushmo would have a clear plan on how to release this one, since they're so smart...
Kinda sorta. Sorta kinda.
"One of NST’s first projects was an unpublished puzzle fighter for the N64 called Panel de Pon. Shortly after I joined NST in 1999, Nintendo gave us permission to redesign Panel de Pon using the Pokémon franchise." - Lawrence Schwedler, the "Bananas Commercial Narrator" from Mario vs. "Donkey Kong".

NST is Nintendo Software Technology, btw. He was using slang.
Anyways, yeah, Pokémon (you write it with an é), and the crazy thing is: japan didn't even get it this time...
It sickens me.
